ABOUT THE FILM

The Hidden Children explores the children who survived the Holocaust from a personal perspective. Ten percent of the children survived the Holocaust. Carl Hausman, Evelyn Ripp and Goldy Hess live in New Jersey and they share their personal stories of their interrupted childhoods under the Nazis through their published books, thoughts, songs and memories from the past and present.

Hidden Children illustrates the difference between childhood and adulthood through out door scenes of both children and adults at play in contrasting scenes creating not only a documentary…but an artistic film of collages.

Deborah Thurlow's new documentary, Hidden Children, is an important and valuable addition to the history of one of the greatest tragedies of our time. In an era where the Holocaust is being denied by some, her film is so honest and the survivors who appear in it are so eloquent and believeable that this film has more relevance today than ever. It will continue to be an invaluable document for everyone to see. As long as there are people left on earth who wish to find a way to live in harmony with one another, Deborah Thurlow's, Hidden Children, will educate us all of what can happen when we allow bigotry and hatred to become acceptable and do nothing about it. It is only by knowing the facts that we can avoid hacing this again to any group of people. One virtue of the film is that it never becomes preachy or bombasti. It does what documentary films of the highest order are suppose to do...it tells a story that could not be told in any other way. The three main characters miraculously survived to tell their story. Now, we can all work to see that, Hidden Children, survives to continue to tell the world the story. See it and make sure that everyone you know does as well. We can all look forward to the day when, Hidden Children, is in every classroom and TV station in the world.
